Who is this programme for?
This programme will be trialled in 2020-21 within Cluster 7 ONLY with a potential Trust wide roll-out in 2021-22. All Cluster 7 schools with RQTs who have recently completed their NQT year will be eligible to take part.
The Recently Qualified Teacher (RQT) programme is aimed at those in their second year of teaching who seek to develop their expertise in teaching and increase their impact in the classroom and beyond. This programme comes ahead of the national roll-out of the Early Career Framework, which provides an entitlement to early career teacher professional development for the first three years of a teacher’s career.
What is the purpose of this programme?
This programme moves beyond knowledge sharing and practice, and focuses on teachers working collaboratively beyond their own school to develop their expertise in an area of personal interest which should also be pertinent to School and Cluster Development Plans. The programme is based on a Joint Practice Development (JPD) model which is defined as a ‘process of learning new ways of working through mutual engagement that opens up and shares practices with others’ (Fielding 2005).
Taking place over the course of the academic year, RQTs will undertake several JPD cycles for their area of focus. Please see attached documents for further information about the programme structure.
How to register?
If you wish to register your RQTs for the trial programme, download and complete the two participant information forms provided on reach teach. The Headteacher will need to please email the completed participant forms to email@example.com confirming the name and email address of the RQT.
If you are from outside cluster 7 and interested in future RQT programmes please email etsa on the above email address to discuss further.
