Excellent mentoring is key to the success of the ECF initiative and every early career teacher must be allocated a dedicated mentor as part of their statutory entitlement. The Early Career Professional Development programme is centred around developing the mentor relationship and includes a focussed learning pathway for mentors.
Through the programme, mentors will:
In year one, a face to face local development session for ECT mentors is part of the programme of support available and will take place within clusters. Mentors will need to confirm their attendance to their local session by booking their place on reach teach.

Mentors will need to confirm their attendance to their local session by booking their place on the Education Development Trust Portal.
There are two venue choices for cluster 7, either Tidemill (option 1) or White Meadows (option 2). Delegates may choose which venue to attend and should ensure they check the venue details on the listing and book on to the relevant session.

ECT Spotlight session 1:Transitioning from ITT to ECT – what to expect
The Spotlight Sessions are an opportunity for ECTs to meet with the Head of Early Career Teacher Development, with a spotlight on specific aspects of the Early Career Framework.
ECTs will be encouraged to bring any programme questions or concerns, as well as network with other programme ECTs. These online sessions are not compulsory, but attendance is strongly encouraged. Sessions 2 and 3 are also open to teachers who were NQTs in 2020/21.
