This two-day programme picks up the baton started at the earlier conference (page 4) and aims to support building schools’ internal capacity to lead effectively and impact directly on attainment for this group of children. All days are facilitated by Potential Plus UK experts.
This programme is designed to support schools in ensuring that the most able of their pupils have access to learning that adequately challenges them, so that they can fully realise their potential. The programme is held over two days spread over time, with practical gap tasks, in between; this enables new systems to be developed and embedded in the school.
Day 1 focuses on a greater depth of understanding of how to effectively identify more able pupils (MAP), then moves onto exploring a wide range of practical strategies for use in the classroom. A gap task enables participants to select and develop strategies to put into practice in school. The gap task also includes running a twilight INSET to ensure that all schools’ staff working with children are able to accurately identify MAPs, and are able to support the group, through drawing on a range of practical strategies.
Day 2 unpicks the learning from the gap task – to identify where the impact lies, so it can be used as leverage for further impact. Participants then work to develop their role, to give them the confidence to lead in school sustainably.
Target Audience: The teachers and/or leaders who are responsible for ensuring that more able children are suitably challenged. The programme would also be ideal for someone keen to develop leadership skills through leading a whole-school change initiative.Essential information
The aim of the workshop is to further the operational success of REAch2 and our academies. This will be achieved through the delivery of bite-sized workshops supported by key note speakers and involving a hands on approach to key work streams.
Each workshop will address the business aspects for the coming term, enabling schools to address key areas in a timely fashion and with the support of their relevant regional teams.
