Code: REA-017 Leadership Development Programme, with Andy Buck

Taking a two-stage approach, the Development Programme will lead headteachers through defining what the role of headship is, and the identifying the core leadership skills necessary to deliver in the role. Heads will audit their skills using a 365 tool and self-evaluation to identify their priorities for leadership development. The interim is intended to give time for heads to address their developmental points. As coaching and building a strong coaching culture is central to the HDP, headteachers will be supported to offer quality peer coaching to one another. The final sessions will provide an opportunity to reflect on successes, share good practice and investigate new priority areas for development. As part of the programme, it is hoped each school will be granted full membership of Leadership Matters, which entitles schools to full access to online 360 and personality tools, plus unlimited access for parent, pupil and staff online surveys. These are currently under development but should be in place when the programme starts.

Code: REA-103 Book Study Group – If you want to lead READ

These sessions are designed to create a culture of sharing and professional dialogue, essential elements for school success. Leaders who read, discuss, and implement current educational research are more engaged and ready to take on the challenges in their school. But the reality is that we lead busy lives, making it difficult to find time for these valuable discussions. In every discussion, we will focus on how to infuse impact and practice with the book's message. We will discuss and review how each book enriches the influence of teachers' teaching and supports our primary mission of making a difference with each and every child, each and every day. 14th October 2016 – “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey 23rd November 2016 – “Great by Choice” by Jim Collins 11th January 2017 – “Influence” by Robert Cialdini 22nd March 2017 – “Creativity Inc.” by Ed Catmul 5th April 2017 – “Leading Teams” by J.Richard Hackman 30th June 2017 – Focus to be confirmed

Code: REA-159 Visible Learning - Impact Coach Training Day 1, Day 2 & Day 3

The purpose of these sessions is to work with you to inform and develop your knowledge, confidence and skills so that you are able to be a successful impact coach for your school and system. The term ‘impact coach’ is intended to reinforce the connection between coaching and impact, evidenced by improving capability and learner outcomes. The Visible Learningplus Team’s conceptualisation of the impact coach role encompasses Timperley and Parr’s (2009) findings that the role demands people who want to: · Understand the research · Deal with change · See themselves as learners · Challenge explanations and practices that are not likely to lead to improved learner outcomes. This is a two-day program during which we will learn about how to influence change within our schools and to provide you with some frameworks, tools and resources upon which you can rely to be able to successfully fulfil your role as an Impact coach.
